Party Planning Problems SOLVED!
Dear Apartments.com,
I went to a party at my friend’s apartment this weekend and I thought it was a great success until I realized the disaster happening in the next room. I peered around the corner to see my poor friend and her boyfriend looming over the toilet trying to unclog what must have been a terrible mess. I called her the next day and found out that it took hours for her boyfriend to get the toilet completely unclogged and flushing properly. I don’t want to meet the same disgusting fate at my next party. Are older apartment toilets not made for the likes of throngs of party-goers or was this an isolated incident?
Thanks in advance,
Clogged in Callaway, Minnesota
Dear Clogged,
Toilets are made to be flushed. Toilets are made to flush certain things and those things only. Odds are someone tried to flush something that wasn’t meant to be flushed. There’s a simple solution for this. How many public bathrooms have you been in that have signs posted instructing the user what not to flush? Make a humorous and colorful sign to hang in your bathroom with “rules” for use. “Flush TP only.” “Be neat.” Tell your guests on the sign where the replacement TP is. Be creative and keep in mind the type of people that you’ll be having at your party. If this is something with close friends, you’ll be able to be freer with the descriptions of your rules, if it’s a party with co-workers or bosses, be short and sweet. Also, make sure you have a plunger at the ready just in case…
