Vitamins and their Health Benefits
Vitamin K – This vitamin is vital for the kidneys to function properly. Vitamin K also regulates normal blood clotting (persons taking blood thinners are told to avoid foods containing high quantities of Vitamin K).
Vitamin P – This vitamin is associated with the circulatory system as it helps blood vessels and capillaries become, and stay, strong. Vitamin P can prevent the accumulation of plaque inside these vessels and capillaries and also protects them from infection and disease. Because of these properties, this vitamin is taken to reduce blood pressure, prevent hemorrhoids, miscarriages and nosebleeds. In some cases it has been able to inhibit tumor growth and lower cholesterol. It also has estrogen like properties and is used to ease the symptoms of menopause.
Zinc – Zinc stimulates the activity of over 100 enzymes in the body and is key to promoting and maintaining a healthy immune system. Zinc is integral in the maintenance of good sense of smell and taste and supports normal growth during pregnancy, infancy, childhood and adolescence. It aids in iron absorption in the blood as well as healing infections and wounds.
