49) Don’t forget about coupons and trying to use them when items are already on sale. It’s extra savings.
50) When you’re away from home for an extended period, unplug the appliances that you can.

Jackie

If you put shampoo and conditioner in pump bottles and use only three squirts of each to wash your hair it lasts forever! I’ve been using the same bottle of shampoo for over two months.

WD-40, (Water Displacement formula 40), was designed to repel water. It has many uses from silencing sqeaks to getting soap scum off walls and glass shower stalls. Just spray it on, and water spots are gone. Also defoggs the bathroom mirror.

I use newspapers to clean my windows and also to line my plant beds under mulch to keep away garden pests. Coffee grounds are great to mix with potting soil. Use only half the suggested amount of liquid laundry soap when doing your laundry. Any more will only build up in your clothes anyway. Same for fabric softener.

When using a debit card for cash NEVER use an ATM machine that is not your bank’s. You will pay your bank and the other bank an additional fee. Instead, go to a store that allows you cash back on a purchase. A pack of gum cost a lot less that the $3-$5 in fees you’d have to pay.

I would love to live in tombstone with my young son I visited once and loved it. Wanda

don’t flush the toiletbowl with one urination, flushing a toilet requires approximately 3 Liters of water.

If you have a ref, dont buy a hot & cold dispenser, but if have bought already just turn on the switch when lots of people are drinking the water like during parties.

Mary

How do you stop bacteria from building up even faster? I don’t want to use cleaning supplies twice as much. I will not live with a dirty toilet in my house!

katrina lark

To clean that hard to get off dirt and ring in your toilet bowl- use a pumice stone. It is wonderful at getting it off and it won’t scratch the porcelain. scrub away!

Lizz

Plain White Vinegar is a great and cheap cleaner that helps keep bacteria down. Also, your toilet is not what you should worry about- it’s one of the cleanest places in your house. Worry more about your bed (under the sheets).

I have learned that if you can stand the taste of apple cider vinegar, it can be used for swishing and gargling. It brightens teeth and takes care of bad breath!! Dilute with water.
There are many other uses too!! Look online.

PJ

buy large bottles of everything and put in smaller ones, less expensive

Laura

I re-use my foaming soap bottles by diluting regular dish/hand soap . it works just as well and i buy soap every other month.

You can search for apartments meeting your criteria right now by clicking the Search for Rentals tab at the top of this page. Search by City, State, Zip and more. From that point you are able to input a wide range of preferences, from minimum and maximum price to number of bedrooms to whether pets are allowed. Each apartment listing features a contact form to directly contact the property for any additional questions or information you need. Good luck with your search!

Majority of suggestions we had to do in my childhood - Deression Days. Of course we did not have paper towels nor foil. For outhouse paper, we used Sears Roebuck catalog- ugh!

WHAT A GREAT SITE THIS IS!!
Is there a place at your apartment building that can be set aside for sharing books, tupperware, etc? Like a trade table or start a trade day? I think the ApartmentLiving tab should say “apartment essentials” or something like that, because at first I didn’t go on apt.living, thinking it’s all decorating or entertaining.Instead it’s EVERYTHING I ever need to know about renting. I wish I would have gone on apartment living before I rented. Whoever does this part rocks. I tried to leave the deserved praise on feedback but kept getting error reports so coudn’t send there.

If your by yourself, heat rooms individually with a fan heater rather than turning the heat on. Take the heater with you as you move from room to room.
