Think Green - Buy Wisely
Instead of paper towels, try using more durable or cloth napkins. You can also cut up old t-shirts into squares and use them the same way you would use a paper towel.
Purchase pens and pencils that are refillable.
When you purchase cosmetics, get refillable compacts for blush, eye shadow or lip glosses.
Instead of getting the cheapest batteries you can find, spend a little more for the rechargeable ones. In the long run, you’ll save as you won’t need to replace your batteries as often, or perhaps at all.
Save your shipping boxes. If you shop online, or through a catalog, don’t toss out your shipping boxes. They break down easy and can be put in your storage area. While you’re at it, keep those packing peanuts too. The next time you need to ship something, you won’t need to pay additional for a box or packing material at the shipping store.
After you’ve done a couple loads of laundry, use the dryer sheets for dusting. You can also throw a couple of them in a drawer to keep your clothes smelling fresh, plus, it also cuts down on static cling once the items have been taken out of the wash.
Consider putting a water filter on your tap instead of purchasing single use bottles of water at the grocery store.
You’re not going to be able to reuse everything that you purchase, but when you do dispose of an item, try to recycle as much as you possibly can. Don’t forget to ask your building management if there is a recycling program in place. If there isn’t, what’s stopping you from starting one yourself?
