If this is correct you can search on the Apartments.com site for privately owned properties. </p> <p>Once you have drilled down through the search process (chosen region, area etc.) you will be presented with your results page. At this point look for a thin gray bar above the listings; this bar will allow you to sort the results by 'Managed' (managed by a property management company), 'Private' or 'Newspaper'. If you sort by Private and/or Newspaper you will find apartments owned by private owners. Here is how you can search for these types of listings: after you have selected all of your search criteria (i.e. location, # of beds, rent range etc.), you will see the results page with all of the listings that fall into your search criteria. If you look just below the "fold" of the page you will see a small section that allows you to search by Managed, Private, or Newspaper. If you click on Private, all listings by private owners will appear.
