Different landlords will have different requirements regarding credit checks, you may be able to find a landlord who does not require a credit check.

Here are a couple of suggestions for renting an apartment if you have bad/no credit:

1- If you have any past due accounts on your credit report, pay them off before you start looking for an apartment.

2-Some landlords may accept referrals from other folks you have had financial dealings with. Perhaps they would feel comfortable renting to you after talking with previous landlords, your bank or employer.

3-Get a co-signer who has good credit. However, you'll want to be very careful with this, if you don't pay your rent or get evicted the landlord may go after your co-signer.
