Grocery Shopping Can be Fun!

  1. Shopping in the morning also means that you are well rested, a plus for shopping.
  2. Shop consistently in two or more stores, and know where the foods are located.
    This cuts down on feeling overwhelmed and lost.
  3. Be sure to have a shopping list made ahead of time so you can shop quickly. I know this is going to sound pretty “motherly” but check out the coupons in the Sunday papers. When you’re living on a budget, it’s amazing what taking a little time cutting coupons will do.
  4. It helps to organize your list; have the same type of foods listed together such as meats, breads, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, etc. This will also save time and energy.
  5. Try to make shopping a pleasurable experience, make a game out of it. Make friends with the check out people…
  6. And if you really, really hate the idea of going shopping, or really don’t have time to do it, there are some really cool grocery stores you can shop online. Check out Peapod.com and Schwans.com to see if they deliver in your areas. Often you’ll be able to find foods here that are not only healthy but also hard to find. Some of these online grocery stores also accept manufacturers’ coupons!

OK, I know this is really going to sound lame , but WHAT do you put ON a grocery list?

I mean, seriously, I walk into the grocer’s because all I have left in my frige and cabinets is a 1/2 jar of pickles, 3 cans of tuna that I’m so sick of smelling I won’t open, and a bag of frozen spinach that’s been in my freezer so long, it’s stuck there. But I get there and I think to myself, “What do people eat?”

Seriously, I’m at a total lost! Mother never taught us how to cook or shop. Where do you start when you just HAVE NO CLUE?

ANY help is appreciated. =0)

Yeah, im agreeing with her. I can cook and all i just dont know all the things im gonna need on my list? any ideas would be great! :)

Hi, Maybe I can help… As far as what to put on the list its pretty easy. You have your basics-Food: Milk, eggs, cheese,butter, Bread, meats ect. You can also put Toilet paper cleaning products, spices for cooking and anything else you would need. Boxed dinners work Great like Hamburger helper… Hope this helps!
