How to Escape a Dangerous Situation

(Rate this article)

Record the following information at the accident site (if there are multiple people involved in the accident, this information should be gathered for each person):

  • Name, address, phone number and drivers license number.
  • Name and address of car’s owner (if not the car driver).
  • Location of accident.
  • Year, make and model of car(s) involved.
  • License plate numbers.
  • Name of automobile insurance company and policy number.
  • Names, addresses and phone numbers of any passengers and/or witnesses.
  • Any damage done to your car or any other car involved.

When this information is gathered, then:

  • Call your insurance company as soon as possible after the accident.
  • In the next 24-48 hours, file an accident report with your state and go to the doctor if you have any aches or pains.
  • Take photographs of your car before taking it for repairs. Your insurance company will inform you of the next steps to take to repair your car.

What about escaping from second hand cigarette smoke? A neighbor moved in recently and his cigarette smoke is traveling into my unit. So far the management has not been very quick to correct the situation. My strong preference is to have this fixed now for the sake of comfort and health.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice,
but,as Brad said on Feb.17,07,what is
being done for non-smokers?I have this
problem now,and seems like nothing can be done. This is just a shame, why should
i and others suffer because of bad habits of others.I have bad allergic
reaction,to cigarette smoke.Now i’m
searching for a smoke free apt.

I had to deal with that problem. Tell the management that they have until __ to fix the problem. If it is not fixed by then (make sure the warning is in writing!!) you can then take them to court. Let them know that you are willing to do this. They usually will do ANYTHING to avoid court. Once your case is won, they may be responsible for court costs, fixing the problem, do not get rent (it’s paid to the court) AND can be liable for any permanent health damage. In my case, they released me from my lease.

I need to know what to do about smokers. They go out on their patio and start smoking and my kitchen window is right their by their patio the smoke comes in (I am not a smoker) I can’t even go out and enjoy my patio because of this. I have put a fan on the out side of my window and turn it on every time the light up and I have to take some Lysol spray and spray it toward their patio. I can not afford to move. They are aware of what is happening and they have a 1year old little boy that is their with them. I need some suggestions. The people that live their are the managers son and daughter-in-law.
